Observed World Food Day

Food security: I joined the Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture and Forest Lyonpo Yeshi Dorji to observe the day long World Food Day celebration held at Damphu Central School on October 16, 2017. Lyonpo reminded the gathering about the importance of the day and highlighted how food security has close nexus with national security. He commended Damphu Central School for their immense interest shown in the School Agriculture Program this thus far, and reaffirmed their support in the near future. It was learned that a child dies every 5 seconds, and therefore people were reminded to avoid wastage of food. Further, it was also learned that the world is getting ridiculous. This is due to the fact that there is more fruits in a rich mans shampoo than in poor mans plate. His Excellency Lyonpo Yeshi Dorji, Minister for Agriculture an Forest during the World Food Day celebration at Damphu Central SchoolAwareness on rice fortification, nutrition and health, vegetable gardening, and salt intake were also conducted to more than one thousand gathering amidst various cultural programs performed by different schools in Tsirang. I also wrote a news article for the Tsirang Dzongkhag highlighting the importance of the day.
