National Strategic Plan Review Workshop
On March 24-28, 2019, the Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (PPM) held a National Strategic Plan Review Workshop located at the National Headquarters. The workshop was attended by 40 scouts from PPM, 2 Asia-Pacific Region (APR) staff, Secretary-General of Boy Scouts of Philippines (BSP) and 7 secretariat staff.
The workshop was aimed at evaluating strategic planning at the state level and national strategic planning that has been in place since November 2017. In addition, each PPM committee presented a strategic plan consisting of six teams namely Resources, Youth Programs, Adults in Scouting, Communication & Relations, Governance and Growth.
The essence discussed and evaluated to enhance strategic planning in this workshop consists of objectives envisioning, strategic priorities, SWOT and PESTEL analysis, action plans, open forums and evaluation. In addition, the use of the Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timeframe (SMART) methodology is strongly emphasized in developing a strategic plan to make it more robust.
In the current era of globalization, PPMs need to be more productive and innovative in formulating strategic plans so as not to stay behind. Therefore, every responsible scout member should provide full cooperation and support in leading PPM internationally. In other words, realizing the strategic planning of PPM 2018-2023 in line with the vision and mission of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
