National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme

National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme

With the global initiative of eradication of polio in 1988 following World Health Assembly resolution in 1988, Pulse Polio Immunization programme was launched in India in 1995. Children in the age group of 0-5 years administered polio drops during National and Sub-national immunization rounds in high risk areas every year. About 172 million children are immunized during each National Immunization Day . I volunteered to be a part of this programme to administer Oral Polio Vaccine to children. The agenda included two types of Work - Booth Duty and House- to- House Duty. 19th - Booth day - St Patriot's School, Doddamavalli , Bangalore 560004, Karnataka, India - Immunized a total of 244 children 20th, 21st, 22nd - House-to-House Visiting and administration of OPV - Papaiah Street, Kempanna Street, Kempanna Cross - Doddamavalli, Bangalore 560004, Karnataka, India - Visited 408 houses and immunized kids. It was a great opportunity to be a part of this National Programme for a noble cause. I am extremely happy to state that, because of the untiring efforts of individuals working under this programme, India will very soon be declared as having eliminated Polio. India - a Polio free country , is indeed, a national dream come true .
