
National Mourning Day
National Mourning Day is a national day celebrated in Bangladesh.This day is celebrated with mourning on 15th August every year nationally and nationally.On this day the black flag was hoisted and the national flag of Bangladesh was kept at half-mast.
On 15 August 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was killed in his own house at No. 32, Dhanmondi by his family members at the hands of some misguided army personnel.Besides him, his wife Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib was also killed by the bullets that day. In addition,18 more people including their family members and relatives were killed
Mujib's family members were killed on 15 August: son Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and infant son Sheikh Russell; Daughters-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosie Kamal; Brother Sheikh Abu Nasser, brother-in-law Abdur Rab Serniabat, nephew Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni and his pregnant wife Begum Arju Moni.
Colonel Jamiluddin rushed to save Bangabandhu's life and he too was killed People's leader Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana survived being out of the country.Every year on 15 August, the nation remembers Bangabandhu and all his family members with deep grief and respect.National Mourning Day is celebrated.
Like every year,this year also the teachers,students and members of Rover Scouts of Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Government College pay their respects and seek forgiveness of the soul of the deceased through Milad and prayers.
