NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP
The Bharat Scouts & Guides, National Headquarters organized National Integration Camp and conducted at Karmel Higher Secondary School Campus, Chalakudy, Thrissur, Kerala State from 23rd - 27th January, 2015 in which 628 participants, Staff & Service Rovers & Rangers from 25 State Associations of the Country participated. Shri K. Gopalakrishna Bhat, I.A.S., Director of Public Instruction & State Chief Commissioner visited the camp during integration session and blessed the participants.
The National Integration Camp was officially inaugurated on 23rd January by Shri K. Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Excise, Govt. of Kerala who was the Chief Guest by lighting the traditional lamp to mark the opening of the event. Dr. K. Sukumara, Jt. Director (S) was also present as a Guest-of-Honour. Many other dignitaries present during the inaugural function. The inaugural ceremony was a colourful opening of the event with high standard cultural programmes presented by the participating contingents. In the evening, Folk Song & Patriotic Song Competitions took place which was inaugurated by a noted Play back Singer of Kerala Mr. Sudesh.
State Exposition Competition took place which was inaugurated by Mr. C. Sreekumar, President, District Panchayat, Thrissur and Festival of India was organized in which Mr. V. B. Bailappan, Chairman, Chalakudy Municipality was present and inaugurated the activity. In the evening Folk Dance of India was organized which was inaugurated by Advocate Anto Cheriyan, Vice-President, B.S. & G. Chalakudy Local Association.
The Colour-Party Competition was organised followed by rehearsal for Republic Day Celebration. The Camp-fire Competition was organized in which Dr. K. Sukumara, Jt. Director (S) was present as a Chief-Guest and inaugurated the Camp-fire by lighting the fire in Scouting traditional way.
A National level Republic Day was celebrated with all the 25 participating State Contingents in which Dr. K.Sukumara, Joint Director (S) unfurl the National Flag at 9.00 A.M and took the Salute of the Marching Contingent as a chief Guest from the Saluting base. Before the March-Past, he reviewed the Parade of the marching contingent in an open Jeep escorted by State Commissioner (S), BSG Kerala State. 03 Band team from Kerala and 01 Band Team from Rajasthan State played the Band during the Republic Day Parade. After completion of parade, a beautiful cultural programme was presented by 100 little Bunnies and Guides of Kerala State. After completion of RD Parade, Peace March was organized in the city of Chalakudy Town for about 2.5 K.M. The march was Flagged-off by Mr. Tomy Sebastian, IPS, Superintendent of Police.
The State Exhibition & Food Plaza competition was organized. The State Exhibition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts & Guides Shri B. I. Nagarale, I.A.S. (Retd.) appreciated the exhibition stall exposed by each State Contingent and praised the traditional dishes prepared by the young Scouts & Guides after tasting in each State.
The Valedictory function of the event was organized in the evening in which Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts & Guides Shri B. I. Nagarale, I.A.S. (Retd.) was present as a Chief-Guest and inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional Lamp. Other dignitaries present were Dr. K. Sukumara, Joint Director (S), Mr. P. M. Sreedharan, Leader of Opposition, Chalakudy Municipality, Mr. T. Pradeep Kumar, Councilor, Rev. Fr. Thomas Achandi, Manager, Karmel HSS, Chalakudy, Rev. Sr. Sr. Lilly Maria, Principal, Mr. U. S. Ajay Kumar, President, B.S.&G. Chalakudy Local Association, all officials of BS&G Kerala State Associations, District & Local Associations and many other invited guests. The participants presented very high Standard cultural programmes depicting tradition & culture of the Country. Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner in his speech highly appreciated the standard of the camp and lauded the Cultural programmes presented by Scouts & Guides. He also praised BS&G Kerala State Association for their wonderful arrangement in making a camp grand success. Prizes were also distributed by Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner to the winning contingents of various competitions and Mementos to each participating State Associations and supporting Staff. The Valedictory function was ended by Integration Dance on the song “Jahan Dal Dal Me” in audio music which was joined by Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner, guest and all Scouts & Guides followed by bursting of colorful crackers to mark the grand success and memorable National Integration Camp being held at Kerala State.
“Free Being Me” Activity, a new educational programme being undertaken by BSG was introduced to the participants by the Leader of the Camp. The input session was delivered by Mr. Gireesh G. K., SOC (S) & State Co-ordinator, Kerala State. Mrs. Dipa, Contingent Leader of Gujarat Contingent too imparted inputs on the subject. At the end Dr. K. Sukumara, Jt. Director (S) highlighted about FBM activity and concluded the session.
The National Integration Camp was successfully conducted under the leadership of Shri Amar B. Chettri, Assistant Director, Southern Region duly assisted by the invited Staff Members of Kerala & Tamil Nadu State Association. Mr. Sakir Hussain, State Secretary & Mr. Gireesh G. K., SOC (S), SOC (G), STC (S), STC (S) and all ASOC’s of BSG Kerala State Association were personally present throughout the event and provided all requisite logistics.
It is also to mention that BS&G Kerala State had gifted One Kit Bag, Scarf, Pen, Diary & Memento to each participating Scouts & Guides and their Contingent Leaders. A good quality VIP File Folder with scrabbling Pad was also gifted to contingent Leaders in addition to other gifts. A very good delicious & notorious food was served looking towards the food habits of all the State Contingent. Mineral water was served for drinking. Services of First-Aid booth with Medical team was functioned throughout the event to meet any emergency. 04 Gates were installed, daily activity photographs were highlighted in the Projector Screen to update the participants, Press Conference was organized one day before the event, event was daily covered by Print & Electronic media, Report of the event was presented by LOC with PowerPoint presentation highlighting glimpse of activities (Short Video) on the last day before the Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner. CNC declared event gave a look of Jamboree and fully satisfiedby the standard of the programme and its arrangement.
