The Kanifing Municipality regional scouts say big Yes to the Messengers of peace initiative. It was on the 17th February, 2013. Kanifing Municipal regional Scout council organized three days camp for the independent day celebration as well as welcoming the inspiration of messenger of peace at New life lower and upper basic school in Kanifing Municipality.  Purpose of this gerthering is to participate to the celebration of our belove country The Gambia and also to welcome the messengers of peace which is a global projects for scout.All the Districts in the region were represented and they comprise all the sections of scouts, starting from beaver scouts to rover scouts. The Regional commissioner and his executive had attended the camp, as well as District commissioner.  The Districts and the numbers of participants are as follows:  Serekunda West District,  Serekunda East District,  Serekunda Central District,  Bakau District,  Josuwang District   The opening ceremony of the camp was chaired by the regional executive commissioner, Remon Jabang. He first of all greeted everyone present and invited the leaders to open the occasion with prayers, and then invited the Regional Commissioner of Kanifing Municipality Ebrima Suso, to give a welcoming remark.   Mr. Susso first of all greeted everyone present and thanked God for making the gerthering successful, he also thanked all the scout who came to take part in the celebration of the National day and the welcoming of Messengers of peace innitiative in the Gambia. He further made a remarkable speech on how one can be a good scout and also the important peace for sustainable development. .  The national Adult commissioner also gave a remarkable speech concerning the important of scouting and peace, in his speech, he stated that as a scout you should be a good citizen who people can rely on for any good thing and also  be an individual who is physically strong, mentally awake and morally strong.  The community Leader Lamin Jawneh also gave a wounderful speech concerning the Messengers of peace and social media and also encourage everybody to make best use of the social media and also work with the community leaders patrol to developing the messengers of peace initiative to the entire countryside, through Scout Regions, Districts, local groups as well as the troops and even active patrols for all to join hand together and raise the flags of scouts and messenger The second day of the camp, scouts prepared fully in their uniforms and were led by the national scout band to the March pass in the admiration their country, the Gambia and Messengers of peace initiatives.       The emergency respond team of the scouts also joined the Red Cross, in serving for humanity, by rendering first aid services to the neediest.   At 2:30 pm, all the scouts report back to the camp and prepared them self for the afternoon activities. After the lunch, all the districts commissioners gather their scout for inter district and cultural performance competition. Bakou district came out first in the cultural performance competition. In the evening, we had Miss and Master Competition between the districts, Serekunda East Came out First. We also had Drama competition were Serekunda West came out first The third day of the camp, we organize inter district drill competition, Josuwang district came out First. This means that the entire districts had prepared them self very well to came out best in one or more of the activities in the competition. At the end of the gathering, all participants decided, as one Scout, to say Yes; to accept to become Messengers of the peace. This first signal represents the setting up of the regional network of the Messengers of the peace of Kanifing municipality Scout body. The regional executive together with the district executive both came to an agreement for all the scouts to come together to celebrate the founders day that is on the 22nd February, 2013. Finally, All the district commissioners promise to extend the ideas of messengers of peace in there districts and also work towards the achievements of the Missions, Vision, Goal, and the Objectives of Scouting as well as messengers of peace.   ·
