A Movement of Sustainable Good Deeds in Education

There are growing negative thoughts that we are growing to become more selfish even among Indonesians about our own country and people, Indonesia and Indonesian. This project was initiated based on my concern especially around my own community. With my rover friends this project aims to prove the contrary and invites volunteers, scouts and non-scouts to do sustainable good deeds within their respective community, particularly toward education. Education can really change the lives of many.
this project has been implemented in two provinces di Indonesia, West Java and Jakarta. We invite elementary school students around our own neighborhood to come to our own house to teach them various subjects. During the pandemic my “non formal school” assisted by seven of my rovers friends, from various backgrounds and almost all are college graduates, is the only “school” that the children have during the pandemic. Our “school” is entirely free.
For this project the impacts are (1) involvement of my fellow rovers, now 15 rovers, all are college graduates, with their own academic and professional backgrounds took part to become mentor and teacher for 20 students, this also affecting our personal and spiritual development (2) empowered 20 individuals with a high quality education during the hard time of pandemic and with high values of scouting, 6 times a week for the past two years.
We are inspired to spread kindness, positivity, and inspiration while studying and working professionally. We are pushed to prove that the young generations of Indonesia have a great potential to do good and contribute to our respective communities, to give back to the society. This project will be continued, with more volunteers from new provinces across Indonesia and we will also grow this project with partnership with social, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.
