MoP Local Coordinators Workshop

The Scout Association of Maldives have conducted its first Messengers of Peace Local Coordinators Workshop from 1st – 3rd August 2019 with 16 participants. The workshop targeted for Young People and Scout Leaders below 30 years was conducted to equip the participants with the knowledge about the Messengers of Peace Initiative and to eventually appoint the participants as Messengers of Peace Local Coordinators who would be part of the Messengers of Peace Team. The participants of the workshop were provided with knowledge on how to further engage young people in undertaking peace actions. They were provided this knowledge with the use of the following content: The content of the Workshop was based on the Better World Framework, Messengers of Peace and Scouts for SDGs. • Session 1: The Messengers of Peace Story • Session 2: Understanding the Better World Framework • Session 3: The 4 Steps • Session 5: Facilitators Training: MoP Orientation for Youth Members • Session 6: Story Telling • Session 7: MoP Support Fund • Session 8: Scout Donation Platform • Session 9: Scouts for SDGs • Session 10: Role of MoP Local Coordinators • Session 11: Implementing MoP in Maldives After taking part in the sessions focused on the Better World Framework and the Messengers of Peace Initiative participants took part in modules and activities designed to engage and inspire young people to be Messengers of Peace. After concluding the sessions and modules the participants organized modules and activities designed to engage and inspire young people to be Messengers of Peace for 25 Scouts. During this activity the facilitators observed and tested the participants to ensure that they were using the skills and knowledge they’ve acquired from the previous sessions. The workshop was concluded with a post-workshop test provided to the participants. After the workshop the participants engaged in an activity where they did a self-evaluation as well as an evaluation of the workshop. The workshop concluded with the participants preparing a personal action plan for a period of 6 months. The workshop was facilitated by the Programme Department of the Scout Association of Maldives. Key leaders of the Association including the President and the Chief Commissioner also participated in the workshop as facilitators.
