To popularize the Messengers of Peace initiate in the states which missed on the Messengers of Peace - Team INDIA Gathering held at New Delhi in 2013. The National Headquarters with the support and approval of the WOSM/APR conducted the Messengers of Peace - Team INDIA Gathering -II at STC, Ganganagar, Kolkata from 28th June – 2nd July 2014. In this gathering we had 36 participants representing 13 State Associations of Bharat Scouts & Guides. The participants represent a mixture of professionals, volunteers, teachers, students and freelancers Shri Shree Prassanna Srivastava, Director, Development Support and Finance, WOSM/APR Region is specially deputed by the Regional Office as Director & Resource Person. Mr. Krishnaswamy R, MoP India Coordinator from NHQ, Mr. Madhusudan A S, MoP Coordinator from Karnataka, Mr. Pankaj Gupta, MoP Coordinator from Himachal Pradesh and Ms. Arundhati Chakraborthy, MoP Coordinator from SEC Railways worked as Resource Person. Shri S S Ray, Assistant Director, Eastern Region, BSG, was the Workshop Coordinator. A team of professionals and volunteers from West Bengal worked to provide required logistics for the success of the gathering. The participants were integrated during the first session on 28th June 2014, the personal expectations of participants were collected and gathering objectives were discussed. Mr. Bhaswer Goswami, State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, West Bengal addressed the gathering on day 2. Formal sessions covering the concept of Messengers of Peace, Registering in the WOSM web site, uploading the activities/ projects/ success story in the web site. Organizing the orientation for young people on MoP, planning of activities for peace initiatives etc. were conducted during the first 3 days. An opportunity to interact with young people and initiate them to the Messengers of Peace initiative was undertaken thru a field Visit to Oxford High School, Howrah. A total of 171 Students including Scouts and Guides were oriented and 64 new members were registered in the WOSM website. The Role of Coordinators for Messengers of Peace was discussed and finalized. The workshop concluded with the action plans and evaluation. The Closing Ceremony of the gathering was held on 2nd July 2014 and Shri Shree Prassanna Srivastava, Director, Development Support and Finance, WOSM/APR presented the Certificates and delivered the closing address. Shri S S Ray Assistant Director, Eastern Region, BSG, Eastern Region proposed the Vote of thanks. The team under the leadership of Mr. Krishnaswamy R, MoP Coordinator INDIA, made tireless efforts to get things done in time for effective conduct of the gathering.
