Messengers of Peace Awareness- Phase 3
The Messengers of Peace awareness continued in the hills of Nakoroboya. My team reached the very remote areas and settlements. This time we went to Nakoroboya village, a beautiful village of about 55 houses consisting 600 to 700 members. The village is situated near a river and surrounded by the hills. We reached the village at 4:00pm and upon approval from the Turaga ni Koro( Village Headman) we went to the community hall for the program. We did a presentation on how everyone can become a messengr of peace and how we can make this world a better place to live in. Since there was no source of electricity, I used a laptop n newsprints for my presentatin. The community members were also introduced on scouting and how it helps people around the globe.
Activities such as Alele, Networking game, Art and Craft and singing were done with everyone. It was interesting to see the elderly people participating in the program. Everyone appreciated the work scouts and other volunteers are doing everywhere. I also got a chance to plan a project with them which basically focuses on safe drinking water as most of the homes were facing difficulties getting safe drinking water. Another project which will be implemented soon will be a village library.
This place inspired me also as a messengr of peace that how we scouts can make difference in people's life. Despite so many problems the people were still smiling which is a very strong sign of unity.
