Meerkats Clean Up!

We have many parks and green belts in our area that are not very safe to walk in because of the amount of litter and rubbish lying around. After the recent rains we have had we chose a section and went to collect litter to make the place look healthier and acceptable to visit
It was a once off outing that we did although the litter collecting is ongoing with the kids as they are alway encouraged to pick up litter if they see it at school or close to their homes
The immediate community would have felt the impact as it is a lovely park and ore people will visit it if it was free of litter. By doing what we did, we also created awareness for both scout involvement as well as the youth involvement - so create awareness for other children that it is is important that we keep our communities looking good
We did create awareness from the local community so the learnings are that we need to get out there more so that people know that scouting exists in SA for kids aged 5 and above
