The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Eastern Railway, Asansol District, Project:- Mass Tree Plantation Programme Date:- 01/08/2014 Place: - Dhomani,Asansol Time :- 09:30am to 11:00 am On the occasion of “Vanamahotsava”, The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Asansol District, organized a “Mass Tree Plantation Programme” on 1st August 2014, at Dhomani Railway Colony, Asansol, under the observation Of Divisional Railway Manager/ District President. Sri S S Gehlot, ADRM. Asansol/ District Chief Commissioner(S), Md. Ishaq Khan, Sr. D.E.N Coordination / District Commissioner (Scout) Asansol, Sri Ashish Bhardwaj, & Mr. Syed Jahangir Hobib, D.O.C (S), & others district officials. The Scouts Guides, Rovers Ranger, & honorable District President, District Chief Commissioner(S), District Commissioner (Scout) and Other officials & also participated in the mass tree plantation programme. This year, special care was taken to choose saplings from among the native species like mango tree, jamun tree, litchi tree, kanak Champa, Neem, Deb-daru etc. and. The air, water, soil and climate of the Asansol region are most suitable for the growth of these native species, and hence their survival rate is quite high. In turn, these support the birds, insects and animals of this ecosystem. These species also are most effective in fighting air pollution. The highlight of the drive was the mass tree plantation at Dhomani Railway Colony, Asansol, & where over 17 trees were planted by Scouts, Guides, they showed great enthusiasm in planting these trees which they knew would recharge ground water, prevent soil erosion and prevent siltation of their river. A massive tree plantation drive was also carried out at Dhomani, Asansol. In spite of the rocky terrain and hardened soil. Trees description:- About 17 trees were planted which are of different species. The name of the trees are listed as: mango tree,Jamun tree, Litchi tree, kanak Champa, Neem, Deb-daru etc. Future plan:- We have planned the project in the way that water source, and the place for compost will be managed and maintained properly.
