Mangrove Planting at Bekasi with HIMATEKA IPB
This project was inspired by our concern over the rapid degradation of coastal ecosystems in Muara Gebong, Bekasi. As a Partner HIMATEKA IPB University, we felt the need to take action, especially after seeing how vital mangrove forests were being lost to erosion and human activity.
We executed the project by surveying the Muara Gebong coast, coordinating with locals, and preparing the planting site. Together with HIMATEKA IPB University and volunteers, we planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings. We also held educational sessions to raise awareness about mangrove conservation and promote sustainable coastal practices.
Through this project, we learned the importance of teamwork, community involvement, and careful planning in environmental efforts. We gained hands-on experience in mangrove planting and understood the challenges of coastal restoration. Most importantly, we realized that small actions, when done together, can create a meaningful impact on the environment.
