M7F Sea Scout Skill Camp
Over the past weekend, the Sea Scouts of Malacca 7th Fort held a Sea Scout skills camp at Seafarers Restaurant. Braving through the terrible weather and unforgiving tide, the camp went well as expected with minor changes being made due to these circumstances. a total of 11 scouts attended with 2 semi complete patrols of Junior Scouts and 1 incomplete patrol of Senior Scouts. Overall, the camp was a first experience for majority of the scouts, leading up to them achieving their Tenderfoot badge. Most of the others have successfully completed their 3rd Class as well as Boatman badges. A few completed the necessary merit badges as well.
Along the way, the helped to build up some important life skills such as how to safely climb a tree, how to use a saw, machete and axe as well as simple cementing of the foundation of the scout den. It was a spectacular achievement for many of them.
The leaders and rover volunteers had their work cut out and only had to ensure activities went according to time and went smoothly. It was a satisfying camp for the rovers and leaders that had for the first camp ever, a simple explain and do camp.
Good Job M7F Sea Scouts!
