Lwandle PS: Building a Culture of Readers

This project was driven by the desire to help learners develop a strong reading culture. Yeboneers wanted to inspire curiosity, strengthen confidence, and encourage learners to see reading as something enjoyable and important for their growth.
Learners participated in reading, storytelling and library-focused activities. Despite the library being far from the school, the Yeboneers supported learners in building habits that promote reading. The sessions helped learners practise comprehension and express their ideas more confidently.
The Yeboneers learnt that meaningful growth comes from challenges. They saw how persistence, encouragement, and a supportive environment helped learners change their mindset about reading. Even with obstacles, the experience reinforced that positive change happens when learners are guided with patience and motivation.
