Litter Less Clean up 2023 : Pretoria 22nd Cubs

We have a lot of litter blowing into our hall property week for week, through the outskirts. Our Cubs gathered every drop of litter that the week had accumulated. They enjoyed it thoroughly. Highly motivated and competitive I may add, not held back by the mundane aspect of cleaning, yet running round gathering all they could muster until we finally called for time. The other tenants & our committee, sure would be pleased that they cared for our shared environment to such a high degree.
Our project was implemented at our Pretoria/Waterkloof 22nd Sea Scout Hall.=, in Pretoria, South Africa. Our cubs filled plastic bags of rubbish they collected throughout the property. They worked as teams in their sixes to see which six could collect the most. In the end it was decided they were all winners for showing up & following through with their clean-up.
Even though 5 of our 12 cubs could be present their impact is far reaching. WE have tenants that use our hall and property including a dog school which would benefit highly to be able to be present in the cleanest environment. The committee also benefits because litter is a constant issue and is dealt with weekly by a clean up service yet is still an ongoing issue.
Our cubs learned the actuality of the amount of litter that is present on our land consistently and enjoy taking an active role at assisting with being a solution.
