Litter Less Campaign for Hilton

The road that we serviced leads towards a new school in our community. There are many workers that walk to work along this road. This road was unclean and had rubbish scattered along its sides. My troop worked together to make this road safer and more respectable.

We all worked together to pick up the litter along the sides of the road. We separated into different groups. Each group was allocated a certain category of litter, so one group would concentrate on glass, another paper, another plastic and another cardboard to pick up, in order for everything to be easily recycled. We all wore gloves and had black plastic bags.

The project has created a cleaner and more pleasing area for the school children from the nearby college to appreciate.

Although we filled about 15 black bags , I noticed that the amount of waste that my troop was able to collect in that short time did not get to everything and there was still some litter left to collect under the railway bridge. If I could, I would give myself and my troop more time to complete this challenge.
