Lipa Montessori School of Learning BSP/GSP Investiture and Camporee

TO CELEBRATE the Philippine Scouting Centennial, install new members of the movement, and train their outdoor skills, Lipa Montessori School of Learning conducted its Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Investiture and 14th School Camporee, November 6-7. KID, KAB, Boy, Senior Boy, Twinkler, Star, Junior Girl and Senior Girl Scouts were inaugurated as members of the Lipa Montessori troop at the stage of the school. Selected scouts lightened candles to symbolize the Scout Oath and Law, medallions and other symbols as they were being familiarized by them. They were then donned with neckerchiefs and pins by their sponsors and scoutmasters. Present in the ceremonies were Council Scout Executives of the Lipa City Council of BSP and GSP Sctr. Cesar Catapang and Ma'am Yolanda Pakinggan. In the afternoon, interested scouts set camp and stayed overnight at the fields of El Madero Farm and Resort, Bagongpook, Lipa City. The scouts were trained using the base method with three bases, namely Obstacle Course, Adventure Trail and Back to Basics. They tested their physical fitness, journeyed the whole resort, and learned to perform first aid and pioneering. They also had a campfire in the evening where each patrol performed their yells, songs and skits. Furthermore, they had morning exercises led by T. Irene Pagcaliuangan and played Silo. Teachers and administrators also played the game as per request of the students. Outstanding patrols were awarded by the end of the camp. The investiture and camping were managed by Lipa Montessori faculty, especially Sctr. Pablo Katigbak. The Eagle Scouts of the institution also assisted the teachers in organizing the two events. This year, the Philippines celebrates its hundredth year of introduction of scouting in 1914, with this camp coinciding with the Philippine Scouting Centennial Jamboree at Fortune, Marikina.
