Life Skills Workshop
1st Worcester organised a workshop that took place on the 25 October 2013 at the Van Cutsem Combined School. The majority of the learners that attend school at Van Cutsem are youth between the ages of 14 and 18 years old, residing in De Doorns and Zwelethemba communities. The two communities identified are the areas with highest unemployment rates, high levels of HIV and STI infections and high levels of teenage pregnancy. 8 In this initiative the Group partnered with the Department of Health, Government Communications and Information System and Department of Rural Development and Land Reform.
The aim of the project was to reach at least three hundred youth through an information session. And to provide a resource contact directory for easy reference as this will help them with the information to improve their quality of life. A representative from the Department of Health gave a presentation, and it was followed by a group discussion, and then participants gave the feedback.
