Let's value what we have

My friends and I like to use the recreational places that our community has. My friends are called Ever and Ricardo and I am Moisés. We are Scouts and we belong to the 50 group in Tegucigalpa. We are from the Troop unit of the Jaguarundis patrol. One day when we left we began to reflect on how there was too much garbage on the park and the field that we used to use. So we looked for a solution to stop this.
We did the project in our neighborhood. What we did was we collected all the garbage that was in our neighborhood, cleaning all the areas, making them more attractive, and then we found a way to prevent it from happening again. So we built some dumpsters, so that people could use them and thus prevent the garbage from being a breeding ground for mosquitoes when it rains and also avoid contamination. We worked on the project, 6 weeks and per week we did 85 hours, we did it together every hour.
The first days with just picking up the garbage began to have a positive impact, there were already fewer mosquitoes. Then, the following days, when we placed the garbage cans throughout the neighborhood, it began to have a favorable impact, making people use these garbage cans and also when we put them up, the streets, parks and the field looked prettier. Another impact was that more people visited and used this place more.
We learned many things but one of the most outstanding is that serving others gives us happiness. We also learned that leaving places in better conditions than they were before helps us improve as a society.
