JELEBU FLOOD 2021

On December 19, 2021, we heard that certain places near Negeri Sembilan had flooding as a consequence of heavy downpours that had continued for several days. as we were receiving requests to assist places affected by the flood calamity at the time As a response, on December 20, 2021, we decided to go to the afflicted districts and offer assistance in cleaning up the houses damaged by the disaster.
We went to Jelebu on the night of December 19, 2021, to meet with the Youth Chief in the area so that we could see the disaster-affected areas. The following morning, we gathered and acquired supplies for the affected house before departing with the Rover Scout. When we arrived, we were escorted to a disaster-affected house and assisted the family by completing cleaning tasks such as removing sludge, and washing portions of the house that had been entered by sludge and flood water.
This project has impacted the local community by alleviating their burden of cleaning up after the floods, while also providing some necessities such as water and other essentials. Furthermore, the project has taught us, the rover scouts, that serving the community is a shared responsibility.
This project taught me the importance of being grateful for the few favors we have, as well as the need of helping those in our community who are in need. This endeavor also taught me the value of collaboration and sparked an interest in volunteerism in me.
