Invent for A Change (Portable Water Filter: Future of Easy Clean Water)
As a project in school, we are tasked to have our research paper. But we thought of something that wouldn't just fit our grades but can be the future solution to current environmental condition.
by 2025 more than half of the world population will be facing water-based vulnerability. That is why, we goal of inventing and designing a portable water filter that can change the fact that we will be loosing our clean water sources by the years to come.
This is the summary:
Water filtration systems have been widely used today as a source of drinking water in domestic yet fixed areas. Considering these circumstances, the researchers aimed to utilize this method to a more handy and convenient way of filtering water specifically in situations where there is a scarcity in water whereas it is clean and safe for drinking.
The study goals to discover an effective portable water filter and also to test the effectiveness of the activated carbon as a filtration utility, to test its capability and specific capacities in filtering substances or detritus that are not safe for consumptions. Trials are done to determine the different filter materials to be used and a laboratory testing for the water product in each filtration in terms of contaminants, toxicity, and overall rate of intake safety. The basis will be obtained from the gathered results which will also determine the total feasibility of the study.
The process made are as follows: materials are prepared, a simple engineered filter specifically designed and obtained was used, including the key ingredient activated carbon, with 3 different kinds of rock/sand varying in sizes commonly used in commercial water filters at home, the setup was prepared then followed by the experimental stage to obtain the samples. The samples are then tested in a laboratory which is then analyzed and compare with the key concepts of pre-filtration and post-filtration plus the standardization of accepted counts.
The outcomes and conclusions made by the researchers made by the researchers are as follows: the resulting product works well in decreasing the contaminants and pollutants present on the water with specific conditions based on the different samples: Complications and limit disqualifications of tap water although concluded as safe to drink is corrected by the filter to a better state therefore available for consumption; River water does not pass the requirements of the Department of Health, yet the results have been assessed to fall under the accepted limit after filtration therefore safe for drinking; Sewage water before and after consumption in not safe for drinking but significant changes can be observed.
