International Rover Week - Youth Advocacy Edition

To achieve a better world, we need more active citizenship. International Rover Week in KISC has increased awareness of global issues and facilitated the development of projects to tackle these issues. This project was focused on adovacy on two core areas: 1) Peace Education & Human Rights – 2) Sustainability.
Between 28th of December, 2022 and 4th of January, 2023 we welcomed 29 participants from 28 countries from all six Scouting Regions, to Kandersteg. During this 7-day event, we covered topics from project management, Education for Sustainable Development, Peacebuilding, to public speaking and advocacy campaigns
Every participant is in the delivery phase of their personal project back in their country. Also, three IRW participants also have delivered live sessions during KISC JOTI, about sustanability, youth advocacy and about the work of the Youth Representatives of WOSM. Projects go from community gardens in Tunisia, to law changing in Serbia and Celebration of Women's day in Ireland.

As the first experience of an Advocacy Training, it was a great event. We managed to have tailored and relevant content for all participants, even though participants were newcomers interested in the topic areas, and others more experienced participants.
