Imparting Bhutanese culture and values
As a responsible citizen and Scout, it's our mandate to share one's own country's etiquette to the youths to maintain and foster peace and tranquil in the country and world. The more we teach them, the more they learn. With the fast modernization one should also take the step to curve the problems related to it. The sustainability and development of peace and humanity truly depends on the education we give to the youth. Thus, in small way, i am hopeful that seeds may germinate sooner or later.
With the help of few Scout Leaders, the students and teachers of Gaselo Higher Secondary School were imparted the knowledge of wearing and bowing (respecting) with and without the Kabney (Bhutanese male scarf) and Rachu (Bhutanese female scarf) to different position levels. Students were given ample opportunity to practice and learn.
The students know the ways to wear the Kabney and Rachu. They also know the correct way to bow to the people who holds different positions. This in a way teaches students to respect elders and love younger ones. It also helps in maintaining and development of one's rich culture and tradition. Thus, helps in development of right attitude and behavior.
We feel that we know everything but knowing the right way is very difficult. As rightly said, "It is easier to be said than done." There are many things we need to know theoretically and practically. We cannot make fun especially when it's about one's culture and tradition. However, for better learning we can invite the expertise or send more teachers to avail the trainings.
