Honoring Our Roots, Embracing Our Future
Our lhakhangs are more than places of worship; they are the heart of our culture, faith, history, and identity. They preserve the wisdom of our ancestors and the traditions passed down through generations. Volunteering to renovate a lhakhang is not just about restoring an old building, but also about serving our community, honouring our ancestors, and preserving Bhutan’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage for future generations. Through this act of service, we demonstrate our respect for our traditions and our commitment to protecting the sacred treasures of our nation.
We volunteered at Shakshing Lhakhang by assisting the carpenters with renovation work and collecting stones needed for the project. We worked together to support the renovation efforts and help preserve our sacred heritage. Refreshments and lunch were provided to the volunteers during the activity.
Volunteering to renovate Shakshing Lhakhang was a meaningful and rewarding experience for me. I learned the importance of preserving our culture, traditions, and spiritual heritage while developing teamwork, patience, and responsibility. This experience helped me understand the value of serving the community and respecting the legacy of our ancestors. I felt proud to contribute to the preservation of our sacred heritage for the benefit of future generations.
