Helping the Needy
My pack partnered with a local grocery store to have the drive. We had pre-packaged bags that we made up for $5 and politely asked people to consider donating a bag to the local pantry. In each bag was a tube of toothpaste, shampoo, a can of soup, 2 canned vegetables, and pasta. By simply asking people to buy a grab bag while shopping for their holiday food, we got over $1400 in donations for our food pantry (it filled 7 grocery carts as people also bought other items and not just the items in the pre-packaged bags)! These items help migrant workers, unemployed, underemployed, elderly, and disabled citizens.
