Grow Trees, Brew Hope
This initiative is to empower youth—particularly Scouts—to take an active role in promoting environmental sustainability and responsible agricultural practices. By combining education, hands-on tree planting, and exposure to sustainable coffee farming, the project aims to develop environmentally conscious leaders who can drive lasting change in their communities. It reflects a commitment to nurturing youth as stewards of both the land and the future.
The project was executed by organizing an interactive tree-planting activity with five educational stations, each highlighting a different environmental or health benefit of coffee trees. Scouts and leaders participated in hands-on tasks like cleaning the farm, digging, and planting coffee seedlings, allowing them to learn by doing. This immersive approach combined environmental education with practical action, fostering deeper understanding and a sense of responsibility among participants.
Scouts and Scout Leaders learned that environmental action becomes more impactful when it inspires continued engagement beyond the event itself. Through hands-on participation and shared purpose, Scouts not only exceeded their planting goal but also developed a deeper commitment to sustainability. The enthusiasm to take seedlings home reflected how meaningful experiences can spark long-term environmental responsibility.
