FOOD FOR LIFE PROJECT PHASE 1-KENYA

FOOD FOR LIFE PROJECT PHASE 1-KENYA

The FOOD FOR LIFE (FFL) project is one of my favourite because i have a great interest in agriculture and food security since i was a young scout. I knew of it back in primary school where i  managed to complete my starter stage . I commenced the silver stage on the 9th March 2020 at our  home in Kerarapon -Ngong Hills. I have 8 phases to tackle in this stage and i have commenced with the first stage which is crop rotation.

Crop rotation is the practice of growing series of crops in the same piece of land in seasons to increase soil fertility ,reduce soil erosion and increase crop yeild. as a start i have prepared two seedbeds and one trench bed. I managed to plant leaf vegetables - kales and spinach, which require alot of manure after transfering them to the trench beds. i will later plant some root vegetables -carrots and beetroots which are asy to manage.

In the same farm, i came up with a way of re using plastic bottles as planting containers.
