FOOD FOR LIFE, MALAWI SCOUTS

Food is a fundamental necessity for everyone to thrive and be productive. Unfortunately, despite Malawi's vast land and untapped youth potential, many people still struggle with hunger. As an organization dedicated to empowering young people, Scouting believes that equipping them with knowledge and skills in food production can make a significant impact in their communities. The Food for Life training has exemplified this, demonstrating the potential for scouts to drive positive change
Forty passionate scouts from across Malawi were selected to participate in a Trainers of Trainers program for Food for Life. These enthusiastic individuals demonstrated a strong interest in farming and were brought together in Lilongwe, Malawi's capital city, for the training. Led by Jonathan Jacala from the Africa Scout Bureau, the program combined theoretical and practical sessions to equip the scouts with the skills needed to make the Food for Life project impactful
Personally, I have greatly benefited from learning the importance of growing our own food as young people. I have also discovered the power of teamwork in food production and the potential of venturing into agribusiness. This experience has not only equipped me with valuable skills but also shown me the impact that collective effort can have in Malawi in driving sustainable food systems and entrepreneurial ventures
