The Group established a food garden, the ECD centre did not have a garden. The aim of the project was to make sure that the children receive healthy meals. The harvest from the garden will be used to supplement the children’s meals. The rest of the vegetables will be sold, in order to buy more seedlings to make sure that the garden is always well maintained. This will be a relief for parents because they will no longer be contributing money to buy vegetables. The staff was taught how to make a trench bed when establishing a garden and the importance of mulching. They were also trained on the importance of compost heap in the garden and types of manure.
