Food drive & cooking for St Benedict’s Community Centre
Written by Scout Bridget:
St Benedict’s Community Centre is a charity based in Queanbeyan that helps people in need, by organising food parcels for people who need them.
For my Leadership Project, I organised and ran a food drive for St Benedict’s Community Centre, in Queanbeyan.
There were 4 parts to my project:
I researched what could be useful for St Benedict’s, and checked with St Benedict’s that they were actually what they needed and would be helpful.
I asked for donations from Scout sections
I led a food drive with 6 other Scouts in a shopping centre, and
We delivered the donations and helped cook and serve Sunday lunch at St Benedict’s.
My project also fitted in with the World Organisation of the Scouting Movements (WOSM) #MakeItHappen campaign and helped address Sustainable Development Goal #1 No Poverty and also #2 Zero hunger.
