Flag Hoisting Protocol

The scouts were giving training on Flag hoisting protocols and were taught about different types of flag we hoist in scouts. A national flag is a flag that symbolizes a country. The flag is flown by the government, but usually can also be flown by citizens of the country. Flags of the nation and association should be respected and honored with great pride. Scouts were instructed about the timing of the flag hoisting i.e., during sunrise to sunset, on all the national occasions (national flag) and scout flag on all scout meets or camps and events. They were also taught about the different types of flag. We have three different types of flags used by scouts, they are National Flag, Bhutan Scout Association Flag and WOSM Flag. Scouts were asked not fly during night times, during bad/strong weather and as and when recommended by government. They were also informed about why we half-mast the flags. The flag should be taken to the top of the mast then lowered down to the width of the flag. They were asked not to use the torn flags, defaced flag and should be secured with honor. Scouts were also introduced to some of the basic drills and commands of flag hoisting. Tshering Woodbadge Scout Leader Samtse Higher Secondary School
