FIRST GIRL SCOUTS CAMP ORGANISED BY GIRL SCOUTS SECTION, BRUNEI DARUSSALAM SCOUTS ASSOCIATION
Girl Scouts section, Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association achieved a historical milestone in successfully organising the First Girl Scouts Camp at Sports school, Brunei from the 6th to 8th September 2019. The camp featured a Youth Entrepreneur talk, basic self defence sessions (Karate and Tae Kwon Do), visits to the Meragang Marine Biodiversity centre and the Brunei Handicrafts centre, abseiling activities, introduction to SDGs as well as sustainable practices such as usage of reusable plastic bags, reusable water bottles as well environmentally friendly rubbish bags.
The camp had Cuckoo drinking water fountain sponsored by Cuckoo company where participants can refill their drinking water bottles. The camp was supported by many private enterprises such as Satinni company sponsoring feminine hygiene and cosmetic products. The visit to Meragang Marine Biodiversiy centre featured a talk by Reef Check Brunei, an NGO committed to reef conservation in Brunei and cleaning turtle rehabilitation tanks.
Abseiling activities was carried out by Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Welfare, Youth and Sports and self defence sessions was conducted by a Rover scout from open troop 1085 and a Girl scout from Sports school troop 1097.
