The environment is our only home, take care of it.

For so long I watched these children play in parks filled with litter and waste. My heart ached not only to see these children play in such environments but to see these children and even adults disregard the litter and accept the environment they are living in. It saddened me that our future generation aren't being educated on the importance of taking climate action and how detrimental their current ways of living is to the future of our planet.
It was implemented at a public park in Mitchells Plain. I gathered 15 scouts children, their parents and some of the children in our community to pick up litter in one of our parks. Before we began we had a brief educational session where i explained the importance of what we were about to do. We then picked up the litter and put them into bags that the city of Cape Town collected at the end of the day.
The whole community, including the scouters and surrounding areas benefited from this. This community is more aware of their actions and will ensure they keep it clean
It is something so simple that we implemented but has a huge impact on the community and environment. Getting more visible bins and involve more of the community and recruit more children into scouts so that they can learn
