"English is Fun" at SMK Padang Tengku, Kuala Lipis

I am taking English as my elective course to teach, hence it is important for me to let students know the importance of English and how fun it is to learn English. When my lecturer asked if I am able to speak for this program, I immediately said YES!
My friend and I were invited by SMK Padang Tengku through our English Language lecturer, Mdm. Khairul Nisak to conduct a post Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) Programme called "English is Fun!". We heard that the students have not much interest in English and they mainly converse in Bahasa Melayu because of their family background. Madam Khairul Nisak drove us to SMK Padang Tengku. The programme started at 8.10 AM and ended at 11.00 AM.
The main impact was making them realize the benefits and importance of learning English. But the main thing was to let them think that English is fun! And we successfully achieved our objective. Students were captivated by the fun icebreakers and decided to try their best to converse in English. They enjoyed the games and sharing.
In a nutshell, it was a good exposure for both my friend and I, since we would not be getting a lot of chance of giving talks and conducting programmes in Secondary School. It was a good experience as we both got to know the attitudes of students and the struggles they may face from the view of a teacher and speaker. I hope that in the near future, this experience can help me to educate my students better.
