EIDUL ADHA DISTRIBUTION OF MEAT : JOINT PROJECT BETWEEN THE GIRL SCOUTS SECTION AND RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS SECTION, BRUNEI DARUSSALAM SCOUTS ASSOCIATION
This project was initiated by the Girl Scouts section of Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association and later organised together with the Religious Affairs section, BDSA. The project initially had 12 participants purchasing 2 cows which were then slaughtered and the meat was distributed to underprivileged families and orphans not limited to BDSA members but also to the community at large, in all 4 districts (minimum 5 recipients per district). The project more than achieved its objective when completed in 2019 so phase 2 was launched after completion of the first.
2020 saw 13 participants purchasing 2 cows and the meat was distributed to underprivileged families and orphans not limited to BDSA members but also to the community at large, in all 4 districts (minimum 5 recipients per district). The project more than achieved its objective when completed in 2020 so phase 3 was launched after completion of the second.
In 2021, the project was opened to members of the public, not just BDSA members and the response was overwhelming. Out of 21 participants, more than half were members of the public who wished to contribute to the community as well. 3 cows were purchased and the meat was distributed to underprivileged families and orphans not limited to BDSA members but also to the community at large, in all 4 districts.
It is hoped that this project will continue as an annual project under the Girl Scouts and Religious Affairs section of BDSA as part of our community outreach.
