Educational project for hospitalized children.
First of all I prioritized analyzing the current situation in society, with so much negativity and attacks, generated by lack of knowledge and ignorance. In this sense, I thought about education, that is not taken seriously, due to the not immediate result. Thus, I joined my love for reading and for children, children's reading can change the world! Another point was to take this to vulnerable children at the public hospital in my city, that's when I created the project "Love through the pages".
It was implemented in “Hospital Geral de Palmas”, the public hospital in the region that I live, the process had to be done carefully because of the Covid situation and all the care that must be taken! I collected donations of children's books for 4 months, 200 books in total, and implemented a mini children's library, as there hadn’t this specific space, no money was raised at any time. All books were used and in a good condition, lately were cleaned and delivered for the hospital.
I can’t tell for sure how many kids were benefited because it’s a lifetime project, and every day an average of 10 new children are hospitalized! But at least 600 children! The project had a wide reach and many people contributed to the project.I had the intention of bringing hope to those children, in addition to encouraging people to do their best for others. The press also came to me to find out more about the project, it had a great impact on society and will certainly have it in the future.
I learned that happiness can be found in the little things in life, every smile I received from children changed me drastically, I saw the willpower of those little children and if I could say to the whole world that it only takes one a small effort to make the other happy, just as Baden Powell said "The best way to achieve happiness is to contribute to the happiness of others."
That moment when the kids saw the books my life stopped for a while, and I wasn’t the same after that.
