THE EASTERN AFRICA ZONAL SCOUT PEACE CARAVAN TOUR, PROPOSAL 2016

Introduction The Peace caravan it is an event that will be conducted for the aim of bringing together scouts from Eastern Africa Zone, through their representatives who are in East Africa Zonal scouts youth committee. We believe through that caravan we will be able to unite seven countries of East Africa Zone, for the aim of spreading the message of peace by the use of activity method. Those activities will be prepared by each country. Theme Peace (messenger of peace) Environmental conservation, Drug abuse and Child abuse {Dialogue} Origin The Eastern African zonal Scout’s peace caravan originated from the great minds of the EASTERN AFRICAN ZONAL SCOUTS YOUTH FORUM COMMITTEE 2014/16. Partners i. ARO-East African scouts zone desk Help in supporting the project through facilitation ii. NSOs Will help in welcoming the peace caravan team comprising of 2- youth forum committee members and 3- scouts members from different NSOs respectively. Namely; Burundi scouts association, Ethiopia scouts Association, Kenya Scouts Association, Southern Sudan Scouts Association, Rwanda Scouts Association, Tanzania Scouts Association and Uganda scouts association iii. Youth forum committee The east African youth forum committee is solely responsible in spear heading and executing the peace caravan activities Priority issue Spreading message of peace, promoting environmental conservation, spreading education about effect of Drug abuse, to protect Children from Child abuse and carrying out dialogue trainings Goal The goal is to re-awaken a sense of scouts in promoting peace, Dialogue and environmental conservation in our locality and Eastern Africa zone at large. Objectives i. To raise the level of awareness among scouts about messengers of peace, dialogue and environmental conservation. ii. To involve scouts in tree planting in and around there NSOs iii. Have scouts spear head peace and environmental conservation. Duration The project is expected to run for period of 7 Month Activities i. Hold several trainings with various scouts in NSOs to re awaken the impacts of peace, dialogues and environmental conservation ii. Carry out questionnaire of how peace in east Africa through scouting can be achieved iii. Involve various youth forum leadership in NSOs respectively to promote messenger of peace, dialogue and environmental conservation iv. Planting of trees to emblem the spirit of creating a better world through tree planting to promote environmental conservation v. Tour around east Africa while spreading the good message of scouting vi. Rebranding the image of scouting within east Africa with focus in promoting peace, unity and togetherness vii. Holding several meetings and using it as an opportunity to bring together the diverse cultural, tribal differences within scouting within east Africa. Beneficiaries All scouts within east Africa zone are direct beneficiaries of this project and our local community area generally. Expected results of the project i. Bring together the scouts of east Africa into one common optical point of focus into peace, environmental conservation and dialogue ii. Increased awareness of messenger of peace, environmental conservation and dialogue iii. Rebranded image of scouting within east Africa zone among the eyes of the public iv. Re-energized scouts to promote peace and environmental conservation v. Launching of tree planting campaigns in various NSOs vi. Setting up of spear lead scouts groups in various NSOs to continue with the peace caravan goals and objectives. Action needed We need to fully carry out this project to address the various matters and issues of contention affecting our communities through spreading message of peace, carrying out dialogue and promoting environmental conservation as well as to get written commitments from the youth scouts that they will continue being part of this project. Conclusion We the East African youth forum committee 2014/16 cordially request the close partners to extend diligent support towards this inevitable project.
