Development and Support Scouting in Albania II

The European Scout Region is supporting the re-development of Scouting in Albania. It is a great pleasure to be part of the journey aiming at a fully recognised WOSM National Scout Association of Albania by 2024. We have amazing Scout leaders and young people supporting the whole process and actively contributing at all levels, such as National Teams to have a sound structure and at the local level to provide NFE to more age sections and communities.

The project aims at building local Scout groups and a critical amount of Scout movement across Albania and creating the next National Scout Organization in Albania. With the support of Alwaleed Philanthropies, a fully recognised WOSM National Scout Association of Albania is foreseen by 2024

  • Finalise the National Youth Programme
  • Create and support 6 local Scout groups from underrepresented minorities in particular Roma and Greeks
  • Provide continuous quality training to local scout leaders
  • Safe from Harm policy and procedures

With the project, we are creating 10 new local scout groups in underrepresented communities, engaging Scout leaders in providing quality non-formal education to children and youth by expanding geographically but also by adding new age sections and building national teams with young leaders to strengthen the Scouts of Albania Association. Collaboration and coordination at the national level within the NGO sector are more and more important and active.

Creating sound local Scout groups is time-consuming but it is worth it. We first identify young adults and adults willing to support the Scout Movement development, then we train them and then they provide NFE. To bring new scout leaders to play a role at national level is challenging as they need to understand the roles and responsibilities but also to further learn about Scouting. It is important to provide them the opportunity to participate in regional events such as the Academy.
