Damaged Road Repair
I was inspired to start this project after noticing how damaged roads in my community were causing accidents and making it unsafe for pedestrians and vehicles. As a Scout, I wanted to make a difference and help create a safer environment. This project also aligned with the values of the MOP Ring Badge and the SDGs, encouraging me to take action and promote awareness about road safety and community responsibility.
I executed my project by first identifying damaged roads in the community through surveys and photos. Then, I informed local authorities and raised awareness among residents. With the help of my Scout team, we safely cleaned and repaired small potholes using basic tools. We documented our work with before-and-after photos and shared it online. This project promoted community safety and supported SDG 9 and SDG 11 through teamwork and local action.
Through this project, I learned the importance of community involvement and teamwork in solving local problems. I understood how small actions, like reporting and repairing damaged roads, can make a big difference in people’s daily lives. I also gained skills in communication, planning, and safety awareness. Most importantly, I realized that youth can play a powerful role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and creating safer, more sustainable communities.
