Dagana Scouts embarks on a SWA journey

Dagana District lies in the remote corner of southern Bhutan with students without access to better world framework. Many schools do not have easy access to internet & road network isn't developed. This has hampered the integration of the Scouts of the World Award Project in the schools of the district. Therefore, Bhutan Scouts Association decided to conduct a Scouts of the World Discovery Workshop for 300 Scouts, non-Scouts & adult leaders of Daga Central School.
The project was launched at a central school in Dagana called Daga Central School. As we have a Scout focal in each district of Bhutan who looks after the Scouting program, we asked him to arrange the logistics for the workshop. The Scout focal then contacted the principal and the Scout coordinator to register interested students to attend the program. 300 students as well as teachers expressed their interest to partake in the program.
This workshop would benefit 1500 people in the school as the participants are going to execute these projects in the school campus.
One of the major learning outcomes from this SWA was that young people do not get the opportunity and the platform to undertake projects. They have ideas on making a difference in their community. But they don't get the opportunity. This project was a great platform for them to pitch their ideas to make a difference in their community. So, this project provided an avenue for them to kick start a project to overcome and solve an issue in the school.
