Cub Scouting for Everyone - Phase 1 & 2

In 2019 Cub scout section of Sri Lanka Scout Association contributed for 23968 cub scouts which is 33% of total Scouts. For the improvement of Quality and Quantity of Cub scouting, it is timely required to revisit the Youth Program and Proficiency Badge curriculum and training of Assistant District Commissioner (Cubs) and Cub Scout Leaders on the revisited Curricula and setting up the targets for them for the improvement of Cub scouting.
Phase 1 - In October 2020 a workshop is planned to introduce 2 revised handbooks in cub scouting and the target group is Assistant District Commissioners (Cubs) from all 37 scout districts. Phase 2 - 2 Days residential workshop (March/April 2021) will be conducted with the participation of 4 members from each district & National Cub scouting Steering Committee for strategy development and to increase the awareness on cub scout new youth program in detail. Phase 3 - Progress review workshops
Total Number of Cubs awarded with Gold star, Silver Star and Bronze Star in year 2021 is planned to increase up to 4000, 5000 and 6000 respectively. The impact of having a successful Youth program and Proficiency badge scheme will help to achieve above target with in next 2 years.
Project was a success as we were able to implement according to the same way we planned the project. Preparation of activity hand books to support cub scouts and adult leaders was a great achievement as it support them to improve in their progressive pathways.
