Creating a Better Environment - 3 Days Campaign

Paro District in Bhutan is a getaway to Bhutanese economy and serves the purpose of providing a fine notion about the country. However, people of this place has been facing adversities due to improper waste treatment. The drains adjoining highways are clogged with unwanted garbage that goes straight into the the river bodies. This forced me to take an initiative of three days clean-up campaign along with my scout mates.
The clean-up campaign covered areas around Paro Town which includes the main road for visitors. Two local temples as well as the riverside area below Hungrel Dzong was also cleaned. Another area includes a regular picnic spot near the National Scout Center. We mainly cleaned the pollutants of local drains for the most part and places that are weekly collection of refuse, largely through the efforts of volunteer scouts.
This project will probably benefit 5000 inhabitants of Paro district including the outside visitors by giving a cleansed view of Paro valley which usually caused massive inconveniences. Towards the end of the three days clean-up campaign, we amassed over 70-80 sacks of wastes which was deposited to particular dumping spots. The initiative that we took aided to do away with malodorous environment and also helped to keep out pollutions out of drains and river benefitting all the associates.
Through this project, I have learned that individual commitment to a group effort is what makes a team work, a society work, and a civilization work. This project also inspired me to take wide-ranging projects here onwards to contribute in Nation Building.
