COVID-19 ASSISTANCE 2020- REACHING OUT TO THE VULNERABLE
As the Covid-19 Pademic gripped Fiji, a lockdown was imminent after our first few confirmed cases of Covid-19. After having discussions with some businesses in the Capital City of Suva, We decided to roll out phase one of our Reilef distribution. We managed to reach out to 10 family with packages worth $100 worth of groceries. A local supermarket manager helped to arranged the food packs which were then distributed by fellow scout leaders. We wanted these needy families to have food on their table for the 2 weeks lockdown. This was success with the collaboration of Lautoka Scouters Council and the Messengers of Peace team in Lautoka. About 120 participants were directly and indirectly involved in this project.
