COMMEMORATING AND RECOGNISING THE NURSING STAFF
The International Nurse Day is commemorated globally on 12 May each year. The nursing staff play a inevitable and indispensable role in functioning of the hospital and form the fundamental pillar in serving humankind. Although, they and their invaluable services have to be celebrated every day of the year, I was entrusted with an opportunity to meet medical nursing faculty and thank them in person. Hence, on behalf of the scouts and guides organisation, I was motivated to express our gratitude.
The project was implemented and facilitated at BMS Memorial Hospital located in Basavangudi Locality. The hospital played a major role in controlling the pandemic and saving large number of lives in the vicinity. Initially, I expressed the significance of the international day to the concerned members of the hospital management and requested them to allow me to interact with the members of the nursing community and present the flower as a token of gratitude to which I secured permission.
The project aims at impacting and influencing the poorly unrecognised members of the medical society. Nurses, despite playing a constructive role in the treatment of an individual are not awarded with their deserved and requisite recognition in the society. Hence, celebrating the International Nurse Day will empower individuals and make them realise their true value and be proud of the same. The event has bought a new perception in the thinking of medical personnel towards the nursing community.
The project has empowered me to learn through the in person interactions with people associated with the medical field. It has thought the immeasurable plight and the profound sacrifices made by the individuals for inclining themselves towards serving the affected individuals irrespective of their social, religious, cultural or financial background. It has imparted the core value of selfless service orientation towards the benefaction of the society ans the satisfaction achieved by the same.
