The Coastal Shield:
Our inspiration was the urgent need to protect Bakau and Jeshwang from coastal erosion. By combining the Forestry Challenge Badge with SDG 13 (Climate Action), we turned a local environmental threat into a leadership opportunity—empowering Scouts to build a "natural shield" for their own community's survival.
The key lesson from the Bakau Tanbi Wetland project is that collaboration is a force multiplier—uniting multiple districts turned a local task into a regional movement. We learned that nature-based solutions are the best defense against erosion, but they require community ownership to be sustainable. Ultimately, this proved that Scouts are not just volunteers, but the primary guardians of our climate future.
