Cleaning Today for a Brighter Tomorrow

We decided to start a cleaning campaign because we could no longer ignore the growing pollution and mess in our surroundings. Every day, we walked past littered streets, overflowing bins, and neglected public spaces. It bothered us deeply—not just because it looked unpleasant, but because we knew it was harming our health and the environment.

We the scouts of Bumthang have completed a 1 day cleaning campaign at Jakarlhakhang and along footpath leading towards Jakar Higher Secondary School. We made several waste disposal sites along the way. A total of 8 students including 1 scout leader participated in the campaign.

Throughout this cleaning campaign, we learned that change truly starts with small steps and a committed mindset. At first, we thought it would be easy to get people involved, but we quickly realized that motivating others takes patience, persistence, and clear communication. We had to learn how to lead by example and stay positive, even when participation was low or progress felt slow.
