Clean Up The World Campaign 2015 and Peace Awareness Programme

THE Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (BDSA) held a cleaning campaign along the Muara beach in conjunction with ‘Clean Up the World 2015’ programme. With the theme “Our Place… Our Planet… Our Responsibility”, the programme is celebrated every September 20 worldwide. the programme aimed to give environmental awareness and understanding on the importance of cleanliness among the new generations. This year marked the association’s sixth participation in the campaign since they first joined in 2010. About 200 members from 15 groups under the association took part in the event comprised of scout commissioners, scout leaders, cub, junior, rover, sea and air scouts from across the sultanate. During the campaign they managed to accumulate around 350 kilogram of rubbish at the beach. This year also Brunei Scouts Association celebrated International Peace which fall on every 21 September along Clean Up The World Campaign activity. The 2 in 1 programme intended to create awareness among the participants the importance of preserving and protecting our environment via Mesengers of Peace Intiatives. Present as the guest of honour was scouts president Dato Paduka Hj Idris Hj Abas along with scouts chief commissioner Hj Badar Hj Ali, scouts deputy chief commissioner Hj Ismail Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Setia Hj Abdul Hapidz and scouts secretary general Hj Zainuddin Hj Jaafar as well as other scouting members.
