CHALLENGE 2 Water Challenge Badge
Last spring and summer young people from Turkey made pilot work for this Challenge over 500 activitirs performed
On the occasion of World Water Day, YUNGA is officially launched it's. The badge is intended for children and young people from 5 to 20 years of age. It is designed to show the crucial role water plays for life on our planet, and motivates young people to save water and promote fair access to clean water around the world.
Developed in collaboration with United Nations agencies, civil
society and other organizations, the United Nations challenge
badges are intended to raise awareness, educate and motivate
young people to change their behaviour and be active agents
of change in their local communities. The challenge badge
series can be used by teachers in school classes and by youth
leaders, and especially Guide or Scout groups.

The challenge badges are designed to support you in
undertaking educational activities. However, as you will
be implementing these activities in different contexts and
environments, it is up to you to ensure that the activities
you choose are appropriate and safe.
Badge structure
activities are divided into five main sections:
A. Water is life: this section introduces basic facts about
water and its importance to life on earth.
B. Using wa ter: looks at how much water we use in our daily
lives – from sanitation and health to the production of the food
and goods we use every day.
C. Water at risk: discusses the many ways in which unsafe
or insufficient water supplies negatively impact life on earth.
D. Water for a better world: explores the connection
between water and development, considering human rights,
health and conflict.
E. Take action: suggests ideas to motivate and help your
group or class undertake water-related initiatives within your
local communities.
