The head of the scouts department in Medinah, Mr. Saleh bin Mohammed Saleh declared that the center's activities start on the first of Ramadan and continues throughout the holy month. 300 scouts participate in the program which cooperate with non-profit organizations, the agency for the holy mosque affairs, traffic management, and medical centers around the Holy Mosque and Masjed Al-Meqat. The program includes guiding the visitors of the Holy Mosque and Masjed Al-Meqat, distributing Iftar meals (breakfast) and helping organize and help pedestrians on the roads.
There are two working sessions. The first starts at 4:30 pm and the second starts after Maghreb prayer (sunset prayer). At the end of each day, a briefing session is held and the reports are saved on the computer.
Mr. Saleh also talked about the Ramadan Scouts Camp includes educational programs, such as leadership internships, scout boys skills, Quran and Hadith courses and more.
In addition, he discussed the long term goals of the Scouts' programs. For instance, he hoped these activities will implant patriotism and loyalty of the country in the young scouts. Furthermore, it will present the honorable side of the center and its members in the presence of the visitors of the Holy Mosque. It will also allow the young scouts to serve the community and connect with their environment and society by serving in the Scouts. Lastly, scouts will develop a sense of charity and community services.
